How to compress a PDF to 5MB

What "under 5MB" actually means

You still get the best verified result the engine could produce, so you can decide whether to accept it, split the document, or request a larger ceiling. Will my PDF always come out under 5MB?
No, and we do not pretend otherwise. The engine works toward the 5MB ceiling and reports what it actually achieved. If the target cannot be reached without making the document unreadable, it returns the smallest verified readable result and says so on the result card. If your file is already smaller than the 5MB (5,120KB / 5,242,880 bytes) target, it still receives safe lossless optimization and the result card confirms the target was already satisfied.
Does compression remove pages or change my layout?
No. Page count, text, hyperlinks, margins, and formatting are left exactly as authored. Only the internal encoding is made leaner: object streams are deflated, unused font glyphs are pruned, and images are re-encoded at a lower quality setting only where that is needed to fit the target.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The whole pipeline runs inside your browser tab with WebAssembly and Web Workers, so the document never travels over the network. Contracts, medical letters, and financial records stay on your own machine.
